Andreas Laszlo Konrath’s intimate portraits reveal a deep love for the medium and technical process of photography and image-making, from film to digital. Whether photographing a celebrity or kids skateboarding, “process” is at the forefront of his images — resulting in imagery both tactile and transcendent. After graduating from London Guildhall University, he concentrated on photographing what was around him; skateboarders, bands, and youth culture. Through documenting the world he knew, Andreas developed his signature style — profoundly raw, authentic and visceral portraiture. His portfolio is filled with iconic cultural figures as we’ve never seen them before — revealing another side of themselves. His work has been published by New York Magazine, The New Yorker, T: The New York Times Style Magazine, Rolling Stone, W, WSJ Magazine, and many others. He’s collaborated on advertising campaigns and special projects with brands such as Rag & Bone, Adidas, Pierre Balmain and Burberry. Andreas has utilized the zine format as a vehicle for many of his own photographic projects, additionally editing and publishing zines and books for other artists. In keeping with this connection to community, Andreas recently co-developed a progressive web app — ‘shrimpzine’ — that allows users to create zines for free on their smartphones — bringing a new creative and collaborative access point for a treasured analog process to digital natives. Andreas is the current artist educator for the Dia Teens program at the museum Dia:Beacon.
