Mayan Toledano is an artist and director based in New York. Toledano’s work utilizes photography, video and art installations and characterized by strong themes of humanity, empathy, sexuality, and the interpretation of otherness. Her resulting portraits emphasize the reality and the fantasy of her subjects as singular entities while highlighting their importance in local community and culture. Toledano’s storytelling often concerns the interior lives of people—existences that revolve around the home. Mayan believes that telling stories is a human born necessity and through honesty the ability to touch is limitless. Mayan worked with clients such as Kenzo, Nike, Chanel, Gucci, Coach, Pat McGrath, MadeMe and American Eagle. Her work has been recognized in the LA film festival, won a Webby award and been in editorial outlets including i-D, Vogue, Le Monde, Sneeze, Them and New York Times. Her feature film debut, “Smadar”was released in 2022 and her first book “No Mames” with Damiani published in 2023.
